"...We believe that Eritrea’s resources should be used not just for today, but to transform tomorrow. Investors who respect our sovereignty and share our development goals are welcome...”

During my last visit home, I had the privilege of touring the Bisha Mining Company with my mother. While I’ve visited Bisha on several occasions in the past, nothing quite prepared me for what I saw this time. The scale of the plant’s expansion, the sophistication of the operations, and above all, the incredible professionalism and dedication of the Eritrean workforce left a deep impression on me.
Today, Bisha stands as a symbol of national resilience, ambition, and self-reliance. It has come a long way from its early days. Walking through the site, I couldn’t help but feel proud knowing that 97% of those running and maintaining this complex operation are Eritreans — geologists, engineers, technicians, safety officers, drivers, and support staff. It is a powerful testament to the country’s commitment to human capacity development and ownership of its natural resources.
What struck me the most was the underground mining facility —Asheli, a technical and logistical marvel that is redefining the future of mining in Eritrea. Standing there, deep below the earth’s surface, I believe we stopped and turned around when we got to 1000 feet, surrounded by rock and machinery, I felt a profound respect for the men and women who descend into the mines each day with skill, courage, and quiet determination.
I want to thank the entire management team, the miners and everyone at the Bisha mines who made my stay there so memorable. Was lucky to be there when they were having their biweekly barbecue and got to enjoy the delicious cuisine and their wonderful conversations.
Their work is not only powering the economy — it is helping to shape Eritrea’s industrial future. This visit renewed my respect for the mining sector and for all Eritreans who are literally building the nation from the ground up.
Eritrea continues to attract international investors, and Eritreans in the Diaspora, are welcome to participate in the growth of Eritrea's mining sector- it is modern, responsible, and forward-looking.
