Al-Bawaba News: Egyptian medical mission to Eritrea

Asmara - Egypt’s Ambassador to Eritrea, Yasser Hashim, said that the Egyptian Agency of Partnership and Development sent a medical convoy in the field of ophthalmology to Eritrea, that was situated there from April 28 to May 7. He said that the measure came in coordination with Egypt’s Ministry of Health, adding that the convoy included four doctors and a medical equipment engineer.

He added that Eritrea’s Minister of Health, Amena Nour Hussein, met with the members of the medical convoy, as she was keen to express her appreciation of the effort exerted by the Egyptian government to support the health sector in the African country. She expressed her aspiration that the Egyptian government will resume sending medical convoys in the field of ophthalmology during the coming period.

The Egyptian ambassador in Eritrea explained that the Egyptian medical convoy conducted hundreds of tests for Eritrean patients, in addition to dozens of surgical operations during its presence at the ophthalmology hospital in Asmara, saying that it left a positive impression on Egyptian experience in this field of medicine.
