Congratulations to people of the Orthodox faith: today it is Christmas
Christmas is a Christian holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus and falls on December 25th for most of the Western and Greek Orthodox Christian Churches.
If yesterday, January 6th, Christmas was celebrated for the Eastern Orthodox Churches (Syriac, Armenian, Coptic, Ethiopian and Eritrea), today January 7 occurs for the Slave Orthodox Churches, which follow the Julian calendar.
Best wishes, therefore, to the people of the Orthodox faith who are in our country.
During the Angelus, the Pope also wished the brothers of the Orthodox churches: "Some Eastern, Catholic and Orthodox Churches celebrate the Lord's Christmas these days. I offer my best wishes to them ".
