For his part, Dr. Hani Raslan, head of the Sudan and Nile Basin Studies Unit at the Center for Political and Strategic Studies in Al-Ahram, said that Afewerki's visit to Egypt is not an exceptional work. It is the fifth visit since the June 30, 2013 revolution, preceded by dozens of visits since taking office About 30 years ago, stressing that bilateral relations between the two countries are always distinguished in all fields.

However, Raslan noted in his interview with Al Ain that this particular visit is especially important, given the existence of a new variable related to the security of the Red Sea, which is related to the attempt to appear in the Red Sea in the Sudanese island of Swakin, although it is a non-riparian state.
