September 5, 2018 - Making unannounced visit, Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed arrived in Asmara yesterday after quick visits to port cities of Assab and Massawa.

The Ethiopian Prime Minister visited both port cities of Eritrea, as well as the road connecting Assab to the Ethiopian border.

The current visit to Eritrea by the Ethiopian Prime Minister was not announced to the public in advance.

The event also marked the first ever docking in some twenty years of Ethiopian ship named Mekelle at the port city of Massawa.

The Ethiopian Premier is said to be happy with ongoing preparatory work by the Eritrean government to enhance port infrastructure, according to Yemane Gebremeskel, Eritrea’s Information Minister.
