Eritrea, signed protocol for the Italian-Eritrean university center

Rome, December 13th (askanews) - "A protocol of understanding has been signed in Asmara for the birth of an Italo-Eritrean engineering university". This is what we read in a statement released after the mission carried out last week in Eritrea by about 80 Italian entrepreneurs, in conjunction with the visit to the country of the Horn of Africa by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emanuela Del Re.

During the visit the professors Lucio Ubertini, director of the Inter-university Center for International Training (H2CU-made up of 21 Italian universities and three CNR institutes), and Cristiana Bartolucci, director of the Building School of Perugia, met the director of the University of Asmara, Professor Haile Muthsun, with whom they signed an agreement to carry out a training course in the field of engineering. "Specifically - it is specified in the note - a document was signed and registered that provides for the formalization of a joint scientific committee that gives rise to an 'International polytechnic University of Corno d'Africa' school based in Asmara and then in other countries neighbors such as Ethiopia and Somalia. At the beginning of 2019 the committee will meet in Rome ". According to Ubertini,

In addition to training, the Italian delegation discussed with the representatives of the Eritrean government the potential of the country, in the various fields of expertise, namely energy, construction, mobility, transport and communications, agriculture, food production and distribution, plant engineering, textile, tourism , the marble supply chain and horse riding. Among the entrepreneurs present, also Nunzio Silletti, of Gold Energy, Andrea Pedretti, of Energy Vault, Paolo Carli, of the Henraux Spa marble company, Sergio Dani of Italprogetti, Filippo Lodola, of Guido Rota, and Gianluca Laliscia, world champion of Endurance and Sole Director of Sistemaeventi.it.

During the meeting with the Italian delegation, the Eritrean Minister of Information Yemane Ghebremeskel said: "Eritrea is in a phase of rebirth. Things have changed now. This is a new era, where socio-economic and cultural development is our main goal. In this sense, as a representative of the Eritrean government, we welcome this first delegation of Italian entrepreneurs with enthusiasm and positivity. Never before have we welcomed so many entrepreneurs into so many different economic sectors. Eritrea and the whole Horn of Africa is really a part of the African continent that offers real opportunities for Italian companies ".
