KHARTOUM, Dec 1 (KUNA) - General Mohammed Hamdan Doklo, Deputy Chairman of the Transitional Council of Sovereignty and his accompanying delegation returned to the country after a one-day official visit to Asmara. He was received at Khartoum airport by a member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Mohammed al-Faki Suleiman, Secretary General of the Sovereignty Council, Major General Osama al-Siddiq Jadallah, and a number of state officials.
Minister of Culture and Information Faisal Mohammad Saleh said in a press statement that the visit of the delegation representing the Supreme Peace Council headed by General Mohamed Hamdan Doklo came to inform the Eritrean leadership on the progress of the government's preparations for the next round of negotiations in Juba on December 10.
The information minister said the delegation held a lengthy meeting with Eritrean President Isaias Afewerki on bilateral relations between the two countries and the arrangements of the government and the Supreme Peace Council for the next round, which he said would be the beginning of practical negotiations in various axes.
The Spokesman added that the Eritrean President affirmed his country's readiness to offer everything that would achieve peace in Sudan and stand with the Sudanese people in one trench based on the historical relations between the two countries and peoples.
The First Deputy Chairman of the Sovereignty Council was accompanied by members of the Sovereign Council, Lt. Gen. Yasser Al-Atta, Ms. Raja Nikola, and the Minister of Culture and Information, Government Spokesperson Mr. Faisal Mohammed Saleh.
