PRESS STATEMENT

London, 27th June 2022

The National Holiday Coordinating Committee UK is pleased to announce that all necessary preparations have been finalised to host Eritrea Festival UK 2022, the main thrust of the program will focus on activities for;  children, youth, families and communities in general.  The Eritrea UK Festival 2022 is an annual event, which plays an important role in enhancing the harmony within the UK Eritrean community, consolidating Eritrean unity, preserving  Eritrean culture and strengthening the community’s Eritrean identity. Furthermore, it promotes higher mobilisation and organisation by developing Eritrean capacity and ingenuity.

It also provides recreational and entertainment opportunities for Eritreans residing in the UK.  The festivities, the colourful cultural performances, the various displays of talent, the recreational activities, and all other activities in general, have a deeper underlining meaning and are not just an excuse for a get together.

During the period of our Liberation Struggle, our festival was a forum through which national issues and the struggle for independence were deliberated upon as such, it afforded an opportunity for Eritreans in UK to come together to forge and strengthen their Eritrean identity. Our festivals have been playing a significant role in enabling Eritreans in the diaspora to identify with their nation.

The Eritrean UK Festival 2022, is being held at a time of great historical  and cultural significance to Eritreans,

will showcase the socio-economic and traditional values of the people of Eritrea— promising to be an unforgettable must see event for all.
