A first jersey is officially awarded during this Tour de France , barring withdrawal. Wearing the green jersey since the end of the fifth stage, Biniam Girmay (Intermarché - Wanty) is assured of winning the points classification, if he reaches the final finish in Nice this Sunday, July 21.
He can no longer be reached by Philipsen
The Eritrean, winner of three stages in the 2024 edition of the Grande Boucle , can no longer be caught in the points standings. His runner-up Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck), who is 33 points behind, is now too far behind given the profile of the last stages, since there will only be 20 points left to glean during the penultimate stage, this Saturday between Nice and the Col de la Couillole.
Three jerseys are still to be awarded in this Tour, the white jersey with red polka dots for best climber , the yellow jersey for leader of the general classification, and the white jersey for best young rider. Three favorites nevertheless appear for each of them, in order: Richard Carapaz (EF Education - EasyPost), Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) and Remco Evenepoel (Soudal - Quick-Step).
