In a sprint, the Eritrean managed to beat Dutchmen Dylan Groenewegen and Olav Kooij. Tens of thousands of visitors had turned out on Monday to enjoy the cycling spectacle on and around the Kade.
Eritreans from all over the Netherlands and beyond had come en masse to Roosendaal to cheer on their hero. It was a big party on and around the Kade on Monday evening. The organization looks back with great pride on a long, warm but very successful cycling day. In the party tent and the many cafés, the party and Girmay's victory will be celebrated for a long time to come.
