The Blatancy of the Wall Street Journal’s Lying
1 November 2024, by Eric Zuesse. (All of my recent articles can be seen here.)
The Wall Street Journal headlined on 31 October 2024, just days before the election, “The Next President Inherits a Remarkable Economy: The high quality of recent economic growth should put a wind at the back of the White House’s next occupant”. That ‘news’ was reinforcing a lie from the Biden/Harris campaign, that Biden/Harris have been great for the U.S. economy. (The economy is at least among the top two issues for voters.) The report opened:
Whoever wins the White House next week will take office with no shortage of challenges, but at least one huge asset: an economy that is putting its peers to shame.
With another solid performance in the third quarter, the U.S. has grown 2.7% over the past year. It is outrunning every other major developed economy, not to mention its own historical growth rate.
The article went on to say that “none of the world’s next six largest advanced economies grew more than 1%. Even China is struggling.” That link went to an 18 October 2024 report in the WSJ, “Chinese Growth Comes in Cooler as Investors Pin Hopes on Stimulus: Wobbly data for the third quarter underscores challenges for Beijing policymakers seeking to boost economic activity.” It said:
China’s economy expanded 4.6% in the July-to-September quarter compared with the year-earlier period.
That was 1.9% higher than America’s 2.7%. The report also said, “For the first nine months of 2024, China says the economy has grown 4.8% from the same period in 2023, putting it at the low end of the ‘around 5%’ goal.” But, in any case, China’s GDP growth-rate is still continuing to be far higher than America’s is. (The rest of that WSJ article panned the performance of China’s economy, as all U.S.-and-allied propaganda usually do — saying it won’t last, as they’ve been saying for the past at least 25 years, during all of which time it has INDEED been lasting.)
The 31 October 2024 article WSJ studiously avoided identifying any others of what they were considering to be “the world’s next six largest advanced economies,” but India ought to be one of them, and on November 1st, the Business Standard newspaper (India’s equivalent of the WSJ) headlined “Investment, private consumption driving India's growth: IMF report. The IMF kept its GDP growth forecasts for India unchanged at 7 per cent for FY25”. And that 7%, too, is far higher than America’s — and now even higher than China’s.
So, to call America’s “an economy that is putting its peers to shame,” and to say that “none of the world’s next six largest advanced economies grew more than 1%,” are both clearly lies. Anyone who believes them believes in an America that doesn’t actually exist, and in a world that doesn’t actualy exist. How can authentic democracy exist in this America? It doesn’t. If all of the mainstream news-media in a country lie routinely, then democracy is impossible there, even if the votes at election-time are counted honestly. That’s just a fact. Democracy REQUIRES a 100% honestly informed public.
This is ‘news’-commentary, but it is also a corrective news-report about the lies in that WSJ ‘news’-article — as well as about their October 18th ‘news’-article that presented China’s current economic-growth rate as displaying a need “to turn the economy around” and as showing that “a rebalancing of China’s lopsided economy isn’t in the cards.” America’s major ‘news’-media have long-since lost their credibility, and therefore only true-believers and other fools trust them any longer. The problem isn’t unique to the Wall Street Journal.
PS: If you like this article, please email it to all your friends or otherwise let others know about it. None of the U.S.-and-allied ‘news’-media will likely publish it (nor link to it, since doing that might also hurt them with Google or etc.). I am not asking for money, but I am asking my readers to spread my articles far and wide, because I specialize in documenting what the Deep State is constantly hiding. This is, in fact, today’s samizdat.

Investigative historian Eric Zuesse’s latest book, AMERICA’S EMPIRE OF EVIL: Hitler’s Posthumous Victory, and Why the Social Sciences Need to Change, is about how America took over the world after World War II in order to enslave it to U.S.-and-allied billionaires. Their cartels extract the world’s wealth by control of not only their ‘news’ media but the social ‘sciences’ — duping the public.
