Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry takes control of the issue of the ship held hostage in Eritrea and seeks the release of the crew
This was stated by Aykhan Hajizade, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, in response to a request from Report .
According to him, the ships "CMS Pahlevan", "CMS Yigit" and "CMS-3", sailing under the Azerbaijani flag and operated by the Azerbaijani branch of "Caspian Marine Services BV", were forced to enter Eritrean territorial waters as a result of severe weather conditions during their trip from the Suez Canal to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates:
"Although prior contact was made with Eritrean port authorities during the crossing, it was not possible to provide information, so after entering the state's 12-mile territorial waters, the relevant authorities of this state emphasized that the entry was unauthorized and detained the ships. 18 of the crew members on the ships are Azerbaijani citizens."
