Trump is forcing Netanyahu out of office.

Israel’s longest-serving and most far-rightwing Prime Minister ever, Benjamin Netanyahu, is holding up and trying to prevent the Israeli Cabinet’s approval of Trump’s deal to end the war in Gaza: Netanyahu’s office said on January 16th, “Hamas is reneging on the understandings and creating a last-minute crisis that is preventing an agreement,” and so, “The Israeli cabinet will not convene until the mediators notify Israel that Hamas has accepted all elements of the agreement.”
The deal was forced by Trump’s appointed Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, along with Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani; Biden had okayed the deal on January 13th, so as to prevent Trump from announcing publicly that for many months the only person who had been backing Netanyhahu’s rejection of this very same same deal (and thus Biden alone is ultimately responsible for all of the deaths in Gaza for at least the past six months) was Biden. Witkoff didn’t create the deal but only okayed it (a deal that Netanyahu had always refused to accept), and therefore Biden knew that if Biden weren’t now to go against Netanyahu on this, then Biden would become publicly exposed by President Trump, as having been the only person who had been allowing Netanyahu’s Israel to exterminate the Gazans.
As I had explained on January 15th under the headline “Haaretz: Trump Forced Netanyahu to Accept Gaza Hostages-Ceasefire Deal”,
Witkoff had basically shoved aside the Biden team (Jake Sullivan, Antony Blinken, etc.) who, all along, have been backing Netanyahu’s plan to add Gaza to Israel, and that whereas until now Biden has been doing Netanyahu’s bidding on the entire Gaza matter, Netanyahu is now doing Trump’s bidding on it. What’s basically at issue in the Haaretz report (though unmentioned there) is the termination, at long last, of Netanyahu’s demand that Gaza become taken over as being a new part of Israel, so that if any of the 2.3 million Gazans will survive, they’ll be ruled by Israel’s Government. Until now, Trump has stood against the “two-state” solution (i.e., against Palestinians having their own land instead of being controlled by Israel). But shockingly, Trump’s envoy appears to be working FOR a two-state solution. If so, Netanyahu is being rejected by the U.S. Government, which (till now) has been his only foreign backer.
Netanyahu is still trying to prevent the two-state solution, but is now in an even more difficult position than he was in days back before all the world’s press announced on January 15th that a deal had finally been reached. If Netanyahu continues to persist now, then he and all of Israel will receive the blame for the deal’s failure to be approved. Trump would then publicly expose that it had been Biden who was ultimately responsible for the continuation of Gaza’s war and for perhaps a million deaths there since this deal had first been put forward by Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and rejected by Netanyahu. Not only would that collapse of the deal leave such a black mark upon Israel so that it would then be a global-pariah nation, but it would also leave such a black mark upon Joe Biden and his Presidency, as the ultimate force that had been arming and keeping the Gaza genocide going. Consequently, at the present juncture, even Biden himself is necessarily rejecting Netanyahu. The result of this failure of the Gaza deal would quite possibly be the termination of America’s support of Israel, and the start of an entirely new order in the Middle East, with virtually every nation in the world blacklisting Israel — and soon thereafter, the end of Israel itself. Furthermore, if the International Criminal Court ends up declaring Netanyahu guilty of the crime of “genocide,” it would flush Israel itself also down history’s toilet, from which it would never reappear except with virtual worldwide loathing. This would be a sewer too deep from which to reappear as having ever been worthy of any respect whatsoever.
My guess would be that in order to prevent such an outcome for Israel, its Cabinet will approve the deal and flush Netanyahu himself down the toilet.
