The Two Sides of Trump’s Lying Mouth

23 January 2025, by Eric Zuesse. (All of my recent articles can be seen here.)

President Trump tells the world that he wants peace, and discontinuance of the permanent-warfare America, but has hired for the international-affairs officers in his Administration only extremist neoconservatives (proponents of expanding the American empire): that’s a two-faced liar, he is, by speaking peace but designing continuation of existing wars and addition of new wars using any means up to and including new military invasions. This has been his history, and it’s what he is right now.

In his speech to Davos on January 23rd, he addressed a question about the Ukraine war by saying

Just so you understand, this is a war that should have never started.  If I were president, it would never have started.  This is a war that should have never, ever been started.  And — and it wasn’t started during my — there was never even talk about it.  I knew that it was the apple of President Putin’s eye, but I also knew that there was no way he was going in, and he wasn’t going to go in.

And then, when I was out, bad things happened, bad things were said, a lot of stupidity all around, and you end up with what you have.  Now you have all these bombed-out cities — they look like demolition sites — with many people killed.

In his speech at Davos, on 26 January 2018, he said:

I’m here today to represent the interests of the American people and to affirm America’s friendship and partnership in building a better world. Like all nations represented at this great forum, America hopes for a future in whichever one can prosper and every child can grow up free from violence, poverty and fear. …

America first does not mean America alone. When the United States grows, so does the world. American prosperity has created countless jobs all around the globe and the drive for excellence, creative and innovation in the US has led to important discoveries that help people everywhere live more prosperous and far healthier lives. …

We cannot have free and open trade if some countries exploit the system at the expense of others. We support free trade, but it needs to be fair and it needs to be reciprocal. …

Only by insisting on fair and reciprocal trade can we create a system that works not just for the US, but for all nations. …

My administration is proud to have led historic efforts at the United Nations Security Counsel and all around the world to unite all civilized nations in our campaign of maximum pressure to de-nuke the Korean peninsula. We continue to call on partners to confront Iran’s support for terrorists and block Iran’s path to a nuclear weapon.

We’re also working with allies and partners to destroy jihad into terrorist organizations such as ISIS, and very successfully so. The United States is leading a very broad coalition to deny terrorists control of their territory and populations, to cut off their funding and to discredit their wicked ideology. I am pleased to report that the coalition to defeat ISIS has retaken almost 100% of the territory once held by these killers in Iraq and Syria. There is still more fighting and work to be done and to consolidate our gains.

At his second inaugural address, on January 20th, he said:

We will measure our success not only by the battles we win but also by the wars that we end. And, perhaps most importantly, the wars we never get into. My proudest legacy will be that of a peacemaker and unifier. That's what I want to be. A peacemaker and a unifier. …

However:

The Panama Canal … has foolishly been given to the country of Panama [That’s a lie.] after the United States — the United States, I mean, think of this, spent more money than ever spent on a project before [That’s true.] and lost 38,000 lives in the building of the Panama Canal. [That’s a rabble-rousing vicious lie.] We have been treated very badly from this foolish gift that should have never been made. And Panama's promise to us has been broken. [All of that is likewise a vicious warmongering lie.] The purpose of our deal and the spirit of our treaty has been totally violated. American ships are being severely overcharged and not treated fairly in any way, shape or form, and that includes the United States Navy. [That’s all yet more of vicious totally warmongering lies.] And above all, China is operating the Panama Canal. [That’s a baldfaced and again total warmongering lie.] And we didn't give it to China, we gave it to Panama, and we're taking it back.

He even had the arrogance to condemn publicly the Episcopal Bishop of Washington DC who at his inauguration on 20 January 2025 spoke of the need for compassion toward poor immigrants and refugees from war-zones and from persecution in foreign lands; and he said of her, “The so-called Bishop who spoke at the National Prayer Service on Tuesday morning was a Radical Left hard line Trump hater. She brought her church into the World of politics in a very ungracious way. She was nasty in tone, and not compelling or smart.” He emphasized whatever bad people are among immigrants and refugees, but never speaks of whatever bad people are billionaires or in the White House like he and other recent Americans are and have been, and the members of Congress — who fund all of those aggressive invasions, occupations, and sending armaments to distant lands for further conquests by and additions to the American empire, also are.

And, so, if that’s not a warmongering liar who speaks against international aggression and wars even though in his actual decisions he craves to be, as the U.S. has steadily been ever since at least 1991, the world’s dominant international aggressor and starter and continuer of wars, then who conceivably is?

PS: If you like this article, please email it to all your friends or otherwise let others know about it. None of the U.S.-and-allied ‘news’-media will likely publish it (nor link to it, since doing that might also hurt them with Google or etc.). I am not asking for money, but I am asking my readers to spread my articles far and wide, because I specialize in documenting what the Deep State is constantly hiding — what the ‘news’-media ignore if they can, and deny if they must. This is, in fact, today’s samizdat.

Investigative historian Eric Zuesse’s latest book, AMERICA’S EMPIRE OF EVIL: Hitler’s Posthumous Victory, and Why the Social Sciences Need to Change, is about how America took over the world after World War II in order to enslave it to U.S.-and-allied billionaires. Their cartels extract the world’s wealth by control of not only their ‘news’ media but the social ‘sciences’ — duping the public.
