Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, stressed the importance of developing Sudan's foreign relations and strengthening joint cooperation with friendly countries, in a manner that serves the supreme national interests during the next phase
During his farewell to Sudan's ambassadors to Azerbaijan and Eritrea, Anas Al-Tayeb Al-Jilani and Osama Ahmed Abdel Bari, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin, Al-Burhan emphasized the strong and excellent relations between Sudan and both Eritrea and Azerbaijan, appreciating their multilateral political and diplomatic role in supporting Sudan during the current crisis
In a press statement, Ambassador Anas Al-Tayeb Al-Jilani, Sudan's ambassador to Azerbaijan, said that the meeting discussed ways to develop Sudan's foreign relations and enhance joint cooperation on regional and international issues
He pointed out that Al-Burhan appreciated Azerbaijan and Eritrea's supportive stances toward Sudan, stressing the two countries' commitment to Sudan's security, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and stability. He emphasized that the next phase requires intensive efforts to advance bilateral relations and expand areas of cooperation across various sectors
In a related development, Sudan announced the completion of arrangements to resume trade with Eritrea via the Laffa border crossing, a move that reflects the remarkable development in bilateral relations between the two countries
Al-Jilani emphasized that Sudan is working to implement post-war reconstruction and rehabilitation projects, noting that cooperation with friendly countries will be a key component of reconstruction efforts and the restoration of stability
