A constructive meeting at the Embassy of Eritrea in Washington, D.C

Mr. Berhane Gebrehiwet, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Eritrea in Washington, D.C., had the honor of receiving Mr. Johnathan Christ, the incoming Eritrea Desk Officer at the Bureau of African Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, for a constructive meeting at his office this morning.
The two officials engaged in a wide-ranging discussion on Eritrea’s steadfast position regarding peace and stability in the Horn of Africa and the strategically vital Red Sea region. Mr. Berhane elaborated on Eritrea’s self-reliant development trajectory and its principled commitment to fostering partnerships based on mutual respect and equal partnership.
The meeting also served as an opportunity to explore the potential for a more constructive U.S. role in addressing challenges and advancing forward looking prospects for improved bilateral relations between Eritrea and the United States.
He also conveyed his best wishes to Mr. Christ for a successful and productive tenure in his new assignment, expressing hope for sustained and meaningful engagement in the period ahead.
