President Isaias’s visit stands as a declaration of strategic success for Eritrea—proof that the RSF threat in eastern Sudan has been weakened and that Eritrea’s support for the Sudanese Armed Forces has paid off.
The meeting deepens military coordination while setting the foundation for economic and Red Sea integration, reinforcing a united stance against foreign interference, especially from the UAE. A stable Sudan aligns directly with Eritrea’s long-term interests, and Port Sudan offers critical future trade advantages—making Eritrea an undeniable Red Sea stakeholder.
The visit also sends a sharp message to Ethiopia: the regional balance has shifted, and Eritrea, together with Sudan and Egypt, have destroyed Ethiopia’s ambitions.
By supporting the RSF, Ethiopia has effectively cut itself off from Sudan’s economy and denied itself access to Port Sudan—one of its most dependable trade routes. It is a severe miscalculation that will bring long-term economic and geopolitical repercussions, especially regarding GERD.
In this shifting landscape, Eritrea not only challenges the UAE and its handlers but rises as an indispensable power broker in the Red Sea and the wider Horn of Africa.
