Hu Changchun, Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Horn of Africa, visits Eritrea

On December 8, 2025, Hu Changchun, Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited Eritrea and met with Eritrean President Isaias. Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman and Chargé d'Affaires and interim of the Chinese Embassy in Eritrea, Dai Demao, were also present.

President Isaias stated that Eritrea and China enjoy a long-standing friendship. Eritrea is willing to continue to firmly support each other and deepen cooperation and exchanges in various fields. Eritrea looks forward to China playing a greater role in regional and international affairs and is willing to work with China to contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.

Hu Changchun stated that China attaches great importance to the development of China-Eritrea relations and is willing to take the important consensus reached by the two heads of state as guidance, strengthen the alignment of development strategies with Eritrea, jointly promote the implementation of the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the "Horn of Africa Peace and Development Vision," assist Eritrea's national development, and play a constructive role in promoting prosperity and stability in the Horn of Africa region.
