Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with Hagos Gebrehiwet, economic adviser to Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki, on Wednesday to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral economic ties, trade, and investment.

During the meeting, Abdelatty stressed Egypt’s interest in expanding economic cooperation and trade with Eritrea and encouraging Egyptian companies and private-sector firms to participate in priority projects in the Eritrean market, according to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nader Zaki.
The minister highlighted potential cooperation in energy, industry, infrastructure, trade, fisheries, and pharmaceuticals.
Abdelatty also expressed Egypt’s readiness to provide technical assistance and training in areas identified by Eritrea as priorities, the spokesperson said.
The Egyptian minister also reviewed preparations for the upcoming El Alamein Africa Forum, which Egypt will host from 2 to 4 October.
The forum is expected to provide a platform for strengthening economic and investment partnerships and connecting African governments, business communities, and financial institutions.
Abdelatty and Gebrehiwet also affirmed their commitment to continued consultations and coordination on issues of mutual interest in support of regional security and stability.
