Tiffany Haddish never misses an opportunity to make a statement with her red-carpet fashion. (Never forget the $4,000 Alexander McQueen dress she wore to three different events.) And at the 2018 Emmys, the comedian once again walked the red carpet wearing a garment with a very personal story.
Haddish arrived in a custom multicolored gown by designer Prabal Gurung, which she explained was inspired by the Eritrean flag, the country in northeastern Africa where her late father was from. "It's custom actually," she told E!. "I asked them to make a dress that represents my father's land."
Check out the gorgeous dress.

This isn't the first time Haddish has honored her father's home country on the red carpet: She wore a traditional Eritrean gown to the 2018 Oscars as a way of honoring him after he passed away. "My father is from Eritrea, and he passed away last year," she said on the red carpet that night. "He said one day I would end up here, and if I ever end up at the Oscars, to honor my people. So I'm honoring my fellow Eritreans."
This is Haddish's first time attending the Emmys, where she's picking up a trophy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her turn on SNL. As to where she's keeping it? She said she's "putting it in the bed next to me so I feel like somebody's sleeping with me... I'm busy I don't sleep with nobody." Oh, Tiffany.
