12.09.2024 | (rsn) - Team Bike Aid completed the ten-day Tour of Poyan Lake (2.2) in China in the best possible way. Captain Dawit Yemane secured the final stage as a soloist and also took over the mountain jersey from his teammate Yoel Habteab, who came second in the special classification.
"We are really happy. It was a great result. Overall, we are very satisfied with how everything went here. It's just a shame that we missed third place in the overall team ranking by one second," said team rider Pirmin Eisenbarth to RSN.
"A very good day for the team. My teammates put me in a very good position at the foot of the final climb and I was then able to go solo," Yemane told RSN.
Yemane won the 119-kilometer 10th stage around Anyun by two seconds over a chasing group of eleven, which was led to the finish by the Russian overall winner Petr Rikunov (Chengdu). Habteab crossed the finish line in seventh place, while Lennard Sternsdorf, who also rides for Bike Aid, finished 18th, 16 seconds behind. In 14th place, the German was also the best Bike Aid rider in the overall classification, while Yemane was ultimately ranked 17th.
