Ikea murderer wants to serve his punishment in Eritrea

ERIC Tagesson February 27, 2017

Ukbagabir Abraham 37, sentenced to life for double murder at Ikea in Vasteras, has requested movement.

He wants to serve his sentences in his home country Eritrea.

Abraham Ukbagabir has repeatedly been beaten in prison.

It was August 10, 2015 as a 55 year old woman and her 28-year-old son was caught off guard and attacked by Abraham Ukbagabir inside Ikea -varuhuset in Vasteras . Without saying a word he went up against them and struck them down with a knife he had taken from the housewares department.

"Would come to paradise"

Then stabbed the 36-year-old offender from Eritrea himself in the stomach, and sank down on the floor department store.

According to what he told me was his view that the victims, if they were to die, would come to paradise.

Abraham Ukbagabir denied despite the murder and claimed that he did not intend that they would die, but as well as the District Court of Appeal sentenced him to life imprisonment and deportation for double homicide.

"Abraham Ukbagabir has armed himself with two knives and intentionally maliciously killed two people. The approach and the powerful and widespread violence that Abraham Ukbagabir subjected their victims are aggravating. The deeds have been preceded by planning and must have meant severe agony for the victims, "wrote Court of Appeal judgment.

Beaten in prison

Abraham Ukbagabir has on several occasions both threatened and beaten inside the prison.

And now he has, according to Aftonbladet, applied to be transferred to serve the rest of their sentences in their home country Eritrea.

The case was handled by the Justice Department for Criminal Cases and International Judicial Cooperation (BIRS), which in turn contacts the Eritrean authorities.

Both Sweden and Eritrea must approve the transfer.
