Africa-USA: Deputy Secretary of State Yamamoto starts touring in Eritrea, Djibouti and Ethiopia
Washington, 23 April 12:35 - (Agenzia Nova)- The Deputy Secretary of State for African Affairs, Donald Yamamoto, is visiting today in Eritrea, the first stop on a tour that will also see him in Djibouti and Ethiopia. In Asmara, according to a note from the State Department, he will have bilateral consultations with Eritrean government officials, as well as meeting the diplomatic community and visiting the staff of the US embassy in Asmara. At the heart of the talks will be requests from the Eritrean authorities for the lifting of international sanctions for their alleged support for the jihadist group in Shabaab. After Asmara, from tomorrow Yamamoto will be in Djibouti to participate in the bilateral US-Djibouti Forum, the annual event dedicated to cooperation issues in the fields of politics, economics, security and development.
