GENEVA - The facts of which a Geneva taxi driver is accused are shocking: rape and strangulation of a 12-year-old acquaintance.
The accused, a taxi driver of Ethiopian origin, is also prosecuted for raping, abused, mistreated and kidnapped three women with whom he had lived, one after the other, between 2004 and 2012. The victims were all refugees with precarious status , originating in Ethiopia or Eritrea.
But the man denies all the facts, including the murder of the child, which took place in August 2012. "We will demand the acquittal from all the charges", declared his lawyers.
The indictment, however, does not leave much to the accused. Report a crime full of hate. The man at the time of the tragedy attended the mother of Semhar, the girl, for several months. He would take advantage of being alone at home with the child to attack and rape her, putting her hands around his neck.
He would then continue to strangle her for several minutes in order to kill her and prevent her from denouncing him.
According to the accusation, the man would have hidden the body of the child under the bed of the master bedroom, to save time and build an alibi. He would then call the little girl's mother to invite her to the restaurant.
He participated in the research - The defendant then participated in the research of Semhar, and he also misdirected the investigation, shifting the focus on the mother of the child, from which the victim had gone the afternoon of his death.
