We thank Daniel Korbaria, who provided us with the precious communiqué of the Eritrean Community concerning the ship Diciotti. To which we add some further notes in the margin.
It is news of the last hours that a famous website has had the courage to doubt, passing it by "hoax", the existence of an Eritrean Community in Italy. We know very well, as also documented by our numerous articles accompanied by numerous photos , such as this is just a real "hoax", which delivers the site that has dared to say such obscenity to the levels of those who claim that the Sun turns around Earth or that the latter is flat. As we see, therefore, the authors of certain allegations are in good company: more precisely, in the asylum before the Basaglia reform.
In any case, candi to chat, and read the statement issued a few hours ago by the Community Eritrea, which certainly has much more reliability of the ravings of a political front and radical chic now fruit:
"With great regret the Eritrean community in Italy is witnessing the usual political exploitation of the migrants hosted, right now, by the ship Diciotti.
We know well the truth of the migratory phenomenon by sea and for years we try to tell it by denouncing this trafficking in human beings, but unfortunately our voice has remained unheard. So far Italian politicians and media have preferred to give voice to those who want to keep ports open to increase the numbers of illegal immigration exodus. We have fought and will continue to do so to enter Italy by legal means and stop the deaths at sea.
We have never shared that international law that for over a decade has favored our compatriots with the humanitarian protection that aimed exclusively to make regime change in Eritrea emptied of its young people. Unless there is a different policy on this matter, which would greatly please us, we believe that for the sake of consistency and respect for the laws in force these people have all the rights to disembark and be helped.
Obviously our solidarity extends to all the other Africans on the ship.
Always attracting them to Italy was a network of criminals disguised as good Samaritans and humanitarians. And today, as the ports are closed, thousands of desperate people from many African countries are blocked in Libya. And just when the landings seemed almost cleared, the traffickers embarked more "Eritreans".
In Italy there are some Eritrean activists, or so-called activists, with contacts in Libya that collaborate with pro-Italian activists, such as NGOs, politicians and mainstream media (the daily Avvenire is a prime example). At this point we ask: Will not it be that using the Eritrean youths is attempting a "regime change" in Italy?
Eritrean Community in Italy ".
The undersigned, Filippo Bovo, author of the book "Eritrea, Avant-garde of a new Africa", has been dealing with Eritrea for 11 years, when I was a militant in the then Socialist Constituent from which the unfortunate PSI of Nencini and Boselli and from which I promptly dissociated myself.
The various movements of the heirs of the PSI Craxian era continued, at that time, to give hospitality and friendship to people of Eritrean nationality, who had even housed in their sections or in the houses of the socialist comrades at the time when the war was raging liberation of Eritrea from Ethiopian domination. Craxi strongly believed in that battle of freedom, supported also by Muammar Gaddafi of Libya and Siad Barre of Somalia, great socialist leaders, who left in the memory of the Eritreans a huge feeling of gratitude.
It was then that I met an elderly gentleman and gentle Eritrean who m'illustrò the history of his country, of his long and desperate struggle for freedom, and its government, led by the wise and circumspect Isaias Afewerki. From there he left my interest in Eritrea, who has developed over the years until today, making me one of the few in Italy, including Italians, can talk competently, and always with great respect towards the Community of Eritrea, which I attend.
Because, in this regard, it must be said that the Eritrean Community really exists, in Italy, and not as a joke: those who had the courage, on a certain notorious site of jokes, to write the contrary, it would be good to come and see the holidays that this community repeatedly keeps in most Italian cities, from Rome to Bologna, from Milan to Florence, from Bari to Catania, not without forgetting the smaller centers. We talk about enormously participated festivals, where we dance, we eat, we talk about politics, and where young people carry on the traditions of fathers and mothers.
And the undersigned, in those events, was present. And it has all these holidays, and now, just to shut up, will show you a part of all these photos, since publishing them all would mean submitting thousands of them, given your obvious prejudices, you would simply never look. So the next time you will learn to sell off what is truth to hoax, and to pass for truth what is a hoax, or a birth of your mind politically in bad faith.
