Kenya reveals U15 Squad for CECAFA Championships in Eritrea

The U-15 list of Kenya for CECAFA includes Rajab Umar, Gil Harel, James Gachago, Kevin Wangaya, and Zein Mwakitawa who were among the squad which took part in the 2017 Southampton Cup U13 category in England, winning the Shield Trophy.

Karl Murugi and Isaac Mugweru, scouted from the ongoing FKF Elite Youth League, have also made the cut.

The tournament is set to kick off on August 16, 2019, with the final slated for September 1, 2019, in Asmara.

Kenya has been pooled in Group A alongside Somalia, Burundi and hosts Eritrea.

The Junior Stars, meanwhile, went down 2-1 to Nairobi County League side Hakati Sportif in a buildup friendly match played at Camp Toyoyo on Wednesday.

The U15 team has been in residential camp on a homeschooling program since the turn of the year at the FKF National Center of Excellence, and they are set to do all the best to impress the nation at the 2019 CECAFA Under 15 football tournament launched by the Council of East and Central Africa Football Association on Tuesday 28 May 2019 in Asmara, Eritrea.

Kenya will first meet Somalia on August 16, 2019 before playing Burundi on August 19, 2019, 2 pm.

The Young Stars of Kenya will finish their Group games with host Eritrea in their tie slated on August 23, 2019.
