The Eritrean president praises the new capital: an inspiring model for urban development.

The Administrative Capital for Urban Development Company received His Excellency Isaias Afwerki, President of the Republic of Eritrea, and his accompanying delegation, during an official visit to the New Administrative Capital, within the framework of strengthening cooperation and exchanging experiences between Egypt and Eritrea in the fields of urban development and urban planning.

The Eritrean President was received by Engineer Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development Company, and a number of the company’s leaders.

The visit began with an official meeting at the company headquarters, during which Engineer Khaled Abbas welcomed the Eritrean President, stressing the depth of the historical relations that bind Egypt and Eritrea, and the Egyptian state’s keenness to enhance cooperation with sister African countries in various development fields.

During the meeting, the company president reviewed the stages of implementing the New Administrative Capital project and the achievements made in it. A detailed presentation and documentary film were also given about the Egyptian state’s vision to create a smart and sustainable city that represents an integrated model for modern urban development, in addition to discussing the mechanisms for implementing the project and its most prominent components.

The Eritrean President expressed his admiration for the scale of the achievements made within the new administrative capital and the speed of the project’s implementation, stressing that the new capital represents one of the most prominent landmarks of the twenty-first century and embodies an ambitious development vision for modernization and construction.


He pointed out that the project reflects the scale of development that Egypt is witnessing in various fields, and is an inspiring model for sustainable urban development that can be used in many African countries.

A field tour of the most prominent landmarks of the New Administrative Capital

The visit included a field tour that included a number of the most prominent projects and landmarks within the new capital, where the Eritrean president visited the Egypt Islamic Cultural Center, which includes the Egypt Mosque and the House of the Holy Quran.

The tour also included a visit to the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ, reflecting the values ​​of coexistence and religious tolerance that characterize the Egyptian state.

The Eritrean president also inspected the diplomatic quarter and reviewed one of the models of the presidential initiative projects, before heading to the central business district, where he climbed the iconic tower, the tallest tower in Africa, to view the integrated urban landscape of the new administrative capital and the development projects it includes.

Visit the city of arts and culture

The Eritrean president concluded his tour with a visit to the City of Arts and Culture, where he listened to a detailed presentation about the city and its various components, and watched a documentary about the project.

He also inspected a number of prominent cultural and artistic facilities within the city, including the Museum of Egypt’s Capitals, the Opera House in the New Administrative Capital, the Music Theatre, and the Drama Theatre.

Praise for Egyptian development achievements

At the conclusion of the visit, President Isaias Afwerki praised Egypt’s extensive development achievements in recent years, stressing the importance of benefiting from Egyptian expertise in the fields of urban planning and comprehensive development.

He also expressed his hope to strengthen cooperation between the two countries and to benefit from the pioneering Egyptian experience to support development efforts in Eritrea, in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable development and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
