Biniam Girmay Hailu (ERY, Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux) made his top speed speak for himself by setting the peloton in a sprint. He is ahead of Ryan Gibbons (ZAF, UAE Team Emirates) and Giacomo Nizzolo (ITA, Israel-Premier Tech).
As in 2021 with André Greipel , the fairly flat profile of this race benefited the fastest men in the peloton. The breakaway, in which appeared the Belgians Tuur Dens (BEL, Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise) and Yentl Vandevelde (BEL, Minerva Cycling Team), could not go to the end. Grouped 25 km from the end, the peloton fought for victory in the sprint. The first Belgian rider, Piet Allegaert (BEL, Cofidis), ranks 7th.
