Mogadishu (Capital Online) -Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has left for a four-day official visit to Eritrea at the invitation of his Eritrean counterpart Isaias Afwerki. 

According to a statement from the presidency, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and President Isaias Afwerki will hold multi-faceted talks, focusing on bilateral relations and co-operation.

According to information obtained by Capital Online, the main purpose of the president's visit was to assess the situation of the Somali troops who were trained in the country two years ago and to repatriate them as soon as possible.

The president wants to know the needs of the army and whether there are any obstacles to the deployment, which he will discuss with President Afwerki.

There have been reports that the force is financially stricken, with the Qatari government already pledging to pay for the training of thousands of troops, prompting the president to move ahead of Eritrea. before going to Qatar.

The troops, numbering about 5,000, have been in the country for more than two years, and Hassan Sheikh has already promised to bring them back. 

Some Eritrean media outlets have reported that Hassan Sheikh will celebrate Eid with the soldiers who have been out of the country for some time.

Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the president of Somalia's Transitional Federal Government (TFG), has on Sunday called on the international community to support the federal government of Somalia in its efforts to restore peace and stability in the war-torn country.

Somali presidential spokesman Abdikarin Ali Kaar recently said that some of the young people trained in Eritrea have died in various ways.

Since taking office, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has embarked on a series of trips abroad to strengthen Somalia's co-operation with the international community.
