The Nazis won WW II.
6 July 2025, by Eric Zuesse. (All of my recent articles can be seen here.)
Only in historical retrospect can the outcome of an ideological war be known and understood with any reasonable degree of certainty. World War Two was waged between the Allied nations that had been invaded by the Axis nations, and the Axis nations that had invaded them; so, clearly, it was a defensive war for the Allies, and an aggressive war for the Axis. The ideological issue in it was between the Axis nations who held that “Might makes right,” versus the Allied nations who held that “No it doesn’t.” To simplify this ideological matter: the Axis powers were supremacists; the Allied powers were equalitarians. (That simplification, however, ignores exceptions to it, such as Churchill’s intense imperialism, and Stalin’s intense punishment of his nation’s middle classes — Marx’s “bourgeoisie” — such as Stalin’s brutal treatment of the kulaks. But to any generalization about social events, there are exceptions.)
Might-makes-right is the fundamental belief of conservatives (such as religions that believe right is whatever some alleged ‘The Almighty’ wants), and repudiation of it is the fundamental belief of progressives (consequently, a progressive in domestic affairs advocates for the masses or “public” and especially for the poor, against the super-rich). Internationally, the advocacy of might-makes-right is imperialism, and the advocacy of no-it-doesn’t is anti-imperialism. Nationally (or intra-nationally, or “domestically”) the advocacy of might-makes-right is the belief that the worth of a person is whatever his/her net worth is, and the advocacy of no-it-isn’t is that each person has the same rights as every other person does (and therefore, a person’s net worth has nothing to do with it). However, Germany under Nazism held that a person’s ‘race’ was an even more important determinant of a person’s worth than his/her wealth is; and, so, if the Axis powers had won, then Germany would have invaded Japan. So, the most extreme anti-equal-rights Government (the most extremely fascist one) was Germany, because it took into account not only a person’s wealth, but also the person’s ancestors. Ancestry was considered first, and then whomever passed that ancestral criterion was evaluated by referring to the individual’s net worth, or (as the Nazis called it) ‘achievement’. Both Mussolini’s Italians and Hirohito’s Japanese were fascists — funded mainly by their nation’s super-rich — but Hitler’s Germans were funded mainly by ONLY ‘Aryan’ (purebred Christian) super-rich.
Here is the best-available evidence on what “Aryan” ACTUALLY meant in Hitler’s Germany:
Eberhard Bethge, who had been a liberal Protestant cleric during the Third Reich, was interviewed in the last chapter of Augustin Hedberg's 1992 FAITH UNDER FIRE and was asked what those years had been like. Bethge commented, “‘Bad blood’ was the great term. You had to have Aryan blood.” Hitler, in only his private statements, had defined “Aryan,” as pureblooded Christian. Bethge’s interviewer inquired, “So we know this Jewish poison [Jewish blood] had to be cleansed. How did they propose to do that?” Bethge replied, tellingly: “For instance, everybody in an office, in a village, in a city, in a province, in Berlin, had to prove that he had [only] Aryan ancestors. How could he do that? He could do it only if he wrote to church officers in the villages or in the cities and asked them to look in the old books of the church in which baptisms were recorded. So many pastors and church secretaries had to work for hours and hours, weeks and months to answer all these requests. ‘Please give me an excerpt out of the church files that proves my ancestors had been Christians.’ The church officers and the ministers, they didn't care. They did that. They said, 'How important we are now.’ I was an assistant curator in the winter of '33. I had to sit all morning and look through the books and answer these letters.” It was therefore the Christian clergy themselves — people indoctrinated with John 8:44, and Matthew 27:25, and Matthew 23:31-36, and Luke 19:27, etc. — who were the proud implementers of the indispensable first step in the Nazis’ 12-year-long “racist” war against the Jews, by supplying the crucial raw data for segregating-out Jews. Bethge was even honest enough to admit, “We were anti-Semitic, and we thought this was Christian.” (Of course, they did, because it was, and they had absorbed this from Christianity’s Scripture.) The essential first step in the “final solution” was this identification of who was NOT an “Aryan,” who WAS “a Jew.” Hitler commanded this first step in the year he came into power, 1933, and the Christian clergy executed it with pride. And yet even today, so-called “historians” say that Hitler didn’t have execution of the Jews in mind from the very start, and that Hitler was no Christian, and so forth.
So, Hitler’s form of fascism (the might-makes-right ideology), which was nazism, was a racism that was based on religion; but it was also a racism that was based on nationality — Germans, 94% of whom were Christians (and therefore were co-religionists with Hitler), were Nazis, and were carrying out and leading the exterminationist Holocaust in every land that they conquered. (Zionist Jews now copy Hitler’s exterminationist anti-Semitism, against Palestinians, especially in Gaza.)
Under America’s leadership, which started the Cold War on 25 July 1945, and which started Israel on 14 May 1948 (and the Nakba the next day, which now is being completed), we have continued the Axis ideologies, fascism and even outright nazism, with the goal being for the U.S. empire to ultimately include the entire world. This fascist and sometimes even nazi ideology is called both neoliberalism (or “libertarianism”) and neoconservatism, but it is also called “free-market” (meaning that a government is founded upon its economy, an economy is NOT founded upon its government — which is ACTUALLY the case), and internationalism (meaning that international empires, or imperialism, are good not bad). It is really the hypocritical form of fascism. Anyway, throughout the U.S. empire, this is the standard ideology; and that is, for example, the reason why the U.S. empire approves of and arms Israel to exterminate the Gazans and dispossess the other Palestinians. America supplies 69% of Israel’s weaponry, and Germany supplies 30%; so, both countries are up to their necks in Palestinian blood. This is entirely fitting for the Americanized form of nazism.
Here are three recent videos presenting, first, the intra-national operation against the weakest people, the poor; and, then, the international operation against especially Russia, like Hitler’s Nazi Party also was (Germany’s Operation Barbarossa); and, then, some similarities between today’s America, and Germany in the 1930s and ’40s. When I have found falsehoods in these videos, I point that out in the autogenerated transcripts I present of them, because spoken “evidences” that offer no documentation, such as in most online ‘news’-video commentaries — such as these here are — are NOT high quality (not to be taken as being 100% true) evidences, but I do know that generally speaking these three are reliable, and that the first one presented here, by Yanis Varoufakis (who participated prominently in the events he describes), is entirely true, and, is really a significant historical document for historians of what he is describing in this video:

“Yanis Varoufakis: The one message you MUST hear — 10 years after Greece’s NO”
5 July 2025
0:00
Today, the 5th of July, 2025, exactly 10
0:04
years after the Greek people voted
0:06
overwhelmingly in a historic referendum
0:10
to say a big beautiful no to the big
0:13
business and big finance who through
0:16
their center right and center left
0:17
political representatives were demanding
0:20
10 years ago, they were demanding of the
0:22
Greek people that the Greek people
0:23
shoulder the costs of the banking crisis
0:26
which big business and big finance had
0:29
caused.
0:30
with the result that hundreds of
0:33
millions of people in Europe and America
0:36
were crushed under mounted rages of
0:39
banking losses which then governments of
0:41
the center left and the center right
0:43
turned into public debt before shifting
0:46
it to the shoulders of the weakest of
0:49
citizens through universal austerity.
0:51
the working classes, the poor, the
0:53
elderly, the young, the women, people
0:56
who lacked the power to defend
0:58
themselves from the powerful who were
1:01
meanwhile plucking the very money tree
1:03
whose existence they denied. Winston
1:05
Churchill once said of the battle of
1:07
Elmagne that before the battle of
1:10
Lmagne, the allies had never won, but
1:12
that after it they never lost again.
1:15
I could say something similar about that
1:18
splendid and at once tragic day of the
1:20
Greek no referendum 10 years ago today.
1:23
The day when 62% of Greek voters ignored
1:26
the financial terrorism of the European
1:28
Central Bank which had shut down the
1:30
Greek banks to blackmail voters to
1:32
accept the terms of surrender they were
1:35
dictating upon the Greek people. That
1:37
same day when my former comrade, the
1:39
prime minister at the time, the prime
1:41
minister I was serving as finance
1:43
minister on behalf of the Greeks who
1:45
were resisting when he trusted their
1:47
verdict and defected. He defected to the
1:51
big finance and the big business that we
1:54
were doing battle against and he did so.
1:56
He defected in the name of the left.
2:00
Before that day, we could not imagine
2:02
losing in the long run our fights
2:04
against big finance and big business.
2:05
the very cabal that blew up our social
2:08
economies in 2008. But after it, since
2:11
the prime minister I was serving under
2:13
overturned our people and betrayed the
2:15
referendum verdict, we can't imagine
2:17
winning ever again, at least not in my
2:19
lifetime, against the big finance and
2:22
the big business whom the betrayal of
2:24
the no referendum helped recover. It was
2:27
that significant a day. It was that
2:30
significant a defection. Now, I know
2:33
it's not a dumb thing to sally the
2:34
spirit of one's fellow travelers, one's
2:37
comrades, to say things like that, to
2:39
surrender in public to the admission not
2:42
only of the size of our defeat, but also
2:44
of the possibility that we may not win
2:46
again for the foreseeable future. Alas,
2:49
now is the time for honesty. For without
2:52
honesty amongst rebels, no rebellion
2:55
worth its salt can be staged. Indulge
2:58
me, friends, fellow travelers, comrades.
3:00
My point is to acknowledge where we are,
3:02
not just in Greece, in Germany, in
3:04
Britain, in Europe, but globally. To
3:06
take stock properly of our situation,
3:08
our situation globally, not to mourn,
3:11
nor for some perverted sense of inverted
3:14
glory. Certainly not for gain, but for
3:17
the simple, stubborn hope of rising
3:20
again. Somewhere to the north of where I
3:22
am talking to you from, the killing
3:25
fields of Ukraine are devouring lives
3:27
with a ruthless mechanical precision.
3:30
Where is the peace movement to stop
3:31
this? Nowhere really. Instead, Europe is
3:34
sinking fast into military kenzianism.
3:37
With large majorities in our parliaments
3:39
voting for unspeakable amounts of new
3:41
debt to go to weapons of mass
3:43
destruction, weapons we neither need nor
3:46
can afford and certainly weapons that
3:49
people with the slightest sense left in
3:52
their hearts and minds should not want
3:54
to possess. Meanwhile, needless to say,
3:57
from my southeast, in that direction,
3:59
from the scorched land of Palestine, the
4:01
accurate stench of genocide drifts on
4:04
the wind. Yes, we have staged
4:06
magnificent marches on our streets. Yes,
4:08
our people have marched to Gaza. Other
4:11
comrades risk life and limb to sail to
4:14
that coastal war crime scene. Yes, we
4:16
have made it possible to speak of the
4:18
genocide without being treated as
4:20
buffoons. Yes, we have shifted public
4:23
opinion, but nothing is changing on the
4:26
ground where Palestinian life is
4:28
eradicated at a steady at an unbearable
4:31
rate or in the corridor of power. Where
4:34
are the sanctions on Israel? Where is
4:36
the United Nations peacekeeping force
4:38
that should have been parachuted in to
4:40
stop the genocide in its tracks?
4:43
Nowhere. The only people that areounded
4:46
are people like the United Nations
4:48
special reporter, my friend Franchescal
4:50
Banzi, for daring to report on the
4:53
political economy of genocide. Why has
4:55
Brazil, Spain, or Ireland, countries
4:57
whose governments have been supportive
4:59
of the Palestinian cause? Why have they
5:01
not joined the Haye group, the hate
5:03
group that our progressive international
5:05
has brought together to isolate Israel?
5:07
What are they waiting for? friends,
5:10
fellow travelers, comrades, at the risk
5:12
of saddening, maybe even angering you. I
5:16
shall say it again. Since that no
5:18
referendum was overturned 10 years ago
5:21
today by the left's own leadership, we
5:24
are losing at every front. Who is
5:26
winning? Not the liberal authoritarian
5:28
establishment, Emanuel Macron, Kama,
5:30
Friedick Merch. No, the pro-Genocide
5:33
radical center. But they are
5:35
sensationally unpopular. Even if they
5:37
are clinging on to power for the time
5:39
being, they are thoroughly discredited,
5:42
despised even. No, the winners nest
5:45
elsewhere in even uglier echelons of the
5:48
political spectrum. Have you not smelled
5:50
it? Can't you smell the fascism in the
5:54
air? Can't you feel its sour metallic
5:57
taste clinging to the back of your
5:59
throat? What happened to our great
6:01
hopes? Remember woman life freedom? The
6:05
whispered three-word promise Kurdish
6:07
heroins carried like a fragile beacon in
6:09
their hands. A promise that until
6:12
recently seemed to shimmer just within
6:14
reach. Well, take a look at the
6:16
triumphant Donald Trump on the one hand.
6:19
Yes, he's winning on every front so far.
6:23
And also take a look at the pathetic
6:25
Camela Harris or the even more pathetic
6:28
Hillary Clinton. between them willingly
6:30
in Trump's case they created the
6:33
manospher's unyielding juggernaut which
6:36
trampled upon the three little words as
6:38
if woman life freedom these precious
6:40
little words had never been spoken at
6:42
all. Authoritarianism that most
6:45
insidious of plagues has crept into
6:47
every snee of life along with a smell of
6:50
pollution in the air microplastics in
6:53
our oceans. the insidious power of cloud
6:55
capital hardwired into our brains,
6:58
delivering our minds to the whims of our
7:00
new tech lords. This new global ecoidal,
7:03
hyper exploitative ruling class is
7:06
entrenching itself as the new order, its
7:09
cold grip tightening with each passing
7:12
day. I don't know about you, but
7:14
speaking personally on this, the 10th
7:17
anniversary of our great victory, which
7:19
was turned overnight into the great
7:21
betrayal, it is ever so easy to
7:24
surrender to the feeling, the sensation
7:26
that my political struggles, fueled by a
7:29
fierce and unyielding hope.
7:31
Nevertheless, these political struggles
7:32
are taking me from one defeat to the
7:34
next, making me feel like a character in
7:37
some twisted simulation, doomed to
7:40
repeat again and again the same futile
7:43
actions over and over. But I shall not
7:47
surrender and nor will you.
7:50
Acknowledging our defeats, the
7:52
overwhelming strength of the monsters in
7:54
power and the magnitude of the task
7:57
needs to be done so that we ground our
7:59
disobedience, our activism, our sacred
8:02
campaigns for humanity and for nature on
8:04
solid ground. So that we learn from the
8:07
past, from what happened to my brave
8:09
people, the Greek people 10 years ago to
8:11
this day. focusing with laser sharp
8:14
precision not only on economics and
8:16
politics of what needs to be done but
8:18
much more so on the greatest solvent,
8:22
the ugliest enemy of solidarity. And
8:24
what's that? The tendency of our own
8:28
side, our own comrades, to be lured by
8:31
power into defecting to the other side,
8:34
to the oligarchs who are ever so eager
8:36
to corrupt us, to corrupt our leading
8:38
figures particularly. So on behalf of
8:40
DM25, today the 5th of July 2025,
8:44
exactly 10 years after the Greek
8:46
people's majestic betrayed but
8:49
inspiringly courageous know that
8:52
ethereal revolutionary little word know
8:55
a word of the only freedom that matters.
8:59
The freedom to turn down exploitative
9:01
extractive deals. On this day I bid you
9:04
farewell. Battle well and let us all
9:07
grounded on facts work joyously to
9:10
devise acts that make the fascists, the
9:13
radical center, the genocide
9:15
practitioners and the purveyors of all
9:17
types of exploitation lose their sleep
9:20
at night so that the many can dream
9:22
again. Carpedium.

“The Growth of Nazi Descendants in Power in Europe.”
6 July 2025, by Rodmac41

0:00
Good day and welcome to SEO BRICS
0:03
Insight where we talk about the latest
0:05
news, information, and analysis of
0:08
what's really going on in Russia and the
0:10
BRICS. Now, my name is Rod McKenzie,
0:12
and today I want to talk about the
0:14
growing number of the descendants of
0:17
members of the Nazi party in positions
0:19
of power in Europe. In this video, I'm
0:22
going to name a few names and point out
0:24
that these people were prominent in
0:26
carrying out war crimes of the Nazi
0:28
party and not some foot soldiers who
0:30
were only following orders. Now, the
0:34
list is growing of the number of co
0:36
European politicians uh or senior
0:39
officials in government who are direct
0:41
descendants of the Nazi party members
a growing list of politicians with grandparents with Nazi past
0:45
from World War II. and it was recently
0:47
expanded by the head of British
0:48
intelligence bla1 Metraveli whose
0:51
grandfather was an active Nazi official
0:54
in the churning region of uh Ukraine.
0:59
Now the grandfathers of the German
1:01
chancellor Friedrich Merz and the head
1:03
of the EU diplomatic uh service at
1:06
[Kaja] Kallas who was also the former prime
1:09
minister of Estonia were also prominent
1:12
supporters of Mr. Shlear [actually Chomiak]
1:17
across the pond in uh Canada. The
1:19
grandfather of the former deputy prime
1:22
minister Christia Freeland grandfather
1:24
was the editor of a Nazi newspaper
1:27
published on presses that were
1:29
confiscated from a Jewish publisher.
1:33
What impact have these family histories
1:35
had on the upbringing of these people
1:37
and their attitudes and do they bring it
1:40
into their politics?
1:42
Now, the grandfather of the new head of
New head of MI6's Grandfather was a Nazi
1:45
British foreign intelligence, Bla1
1:47
Metraveli [Blaise Metreweli], is said to have served in the
1:50
German army during the great patriotic
1:53
war. And according to the Daily Fascist
1:56
Mail, the Ukrainian Constantine
1:59
Dovloski [actually Constantine Dobrowolski],
2:01
defected from the Red Army, and
2:03
subsequently served in an SS unit. He
2:06
was also residing in the Chernugov
2:08
region and was able to assume the role
2:10
of the chief regional enforcer for the
2:13
Third Reich. The man was responsible for
2:16
the brutal treatment of hundreds of
2:18
captive resistance fighters, a fact that
2:21
led him to be given the nickname uh the
2:24
butcher. Doorra Lovski uh has also been
2:28
accused of plundering the bodies of
2:30
Holocaust victim and ridiculing sexual
2:33
violence against female prisoners.
2:37
The British foreign office has issued a
2:40
response to the publication. The
2:42
diplomatic department has noted that
2:45
Metrabelli had no knowledge of and had
2:48
never met her paternal grandfather and
2:50
that her family tree is characterized by
2:53
conflicts and disagreements that in many
2:56
uh cases is similar to that of people of
2:59
East European descent and the crimes are
Involved in mass murder at Babi Yar in WW2
3:02
all not really that understandable.
3:05
In turn, the official representative of
3:07
the Russian foreign ministry, Maria
3:09
Zacharova, highlighted certain details
3:12
of the biography of the grandfather of
3:14
the head of MI6. Archive materials
3:18
preserved his confession, for example,
3:21
when it said, "I personally participated
3:23
in the extermination of Jews near Kiev."
3:27
That's the belief of several historians
3:29
that he participated in the executions
3:32
of Jews in the Babayar massacre.
3:36
They asserted that he was one of the
3:38
Ukrainian Asgaris uh of the SS who
3:42
stripped the Jewish women, children, and
3:44
the elderly of their clothes, arranging
3:47
them in a line of a trench and shooting
3:49
them in the head. This process is said
3:51
to have continued for two days in
3:53
succession with new batches of victims
3:56
being executed as they were transported.
4:00
Now before I continue, I would like to
4:02
make an appeal. If you like and enjoy my
4:04
videos, you can help me fund the channel …
4:40
aforementioned information, Zacharova
4:43
poses the following question. Did her
4:46
grandmother and father genuinely conceal
4:49
the skeletons in the family closet from
4:52
her? That's Metropellia. She also
4:54
highlighted the concerning trend in the
4:56
countries of the collective west, noting
4:59
that there's a deliberate and systematic
5:01
promotion of the descendants of Nazis
5:04
into leading positions.
Friedrich Merz's grandfather was friend of Goebbels.
5:06
Indeed, the list of prominent European
5:09
figures with dubious pedigrees is being
5:12
regularly expanded. Joseph Paul Soi,
5:16
who's the grandfather of the German
5:18
chancellor Friedrich Merz, was also an
5:20
ardent supporter of Mr. Shikl Gruber and
5:23
a member of the party. So served as the
5:27
mayor of Baw from 1917 to 1937. And
5:31
according to a 2004 article in the
5:34
German newspaper Taz, Sing publicly
5:37
praised the uh furer and referred to the
5:41
party as a storm capable of cleansing
5:43
the country of the poisonous fumes of
5:46
misunderstood freedom. Now he also
5:49
initiated the naming or renaming of two
5:52
city streets in order of Mr. Shikle
5:54
Gruber and the Nazi vice chancellor
5:57
Herman Goring Merz clarified that his
6:00
grandfather was forced to join the party
6:03
as a consequence of his role as a civil
6:05
servant. Yeah, I believe that don't you?
6:08
He subsequently chose not to disclose
6:10
his family history for a considerable
6:12
period of time. However, in an interview
6:15
in Daelt in January, he did concede that
6:18
his grandfather was involved with the
6:21
party.
6:22
Now Merz has a very strange attitude
6:25
towards the war. In a recent interview
6:28
with Sudan Zaiton he expressed concern
6:31
over the fear of military action that's
6:34
taking place within German society. He
6:37
believes that the the citizens need to
6:39
develop a realistic view in his opinion
6:42
of Russia's aggressive actions and as a
6:44
result build up their weapons more
6:46
actively uh so that they can defend
6:49
themselves against Russia. So it looks
6:51
like uh he's just like his grandfather
6:54
and his chums and they obviously want to
6:56
invade Russia. Now it's also come to
Baerbock and Habeck both had Nazi grandparents
7:00
light [now shed] that several members of the
7:01
previous chancellor Olaf Schultz
7:04
government have a history of
7:05
questionable conduct. For instance, the
7:08
grandfather of the former German foreign
7:10
minister Annalena Baerbock [advocate of war by Europe against Russia and by Israel against Palestinians] (who was
7:14
recently elected as UN General Assembly
7:17
chairperson [“Annalena Baerbock elected President of the 80th General Assembly” on June 12th]) was a Vimark officer [Waldemar Baerbock] who
7:19
received the Iron Cross for military
7:22
merit. According to a report in the
7:24
build newspaper, their investigation
7:27
found that onear Burbach was an ardent
7:30
supporter of Mr. Shicklegruber [Hitler] fully
7:32
adhering to the principles uh of the
7:34
party.
7:36
In turn, the country's former minister
7:39
of economy, Robert Habeck, yeah, him is
7:42
supposed to be green and nice and cuddly
7:44
and loves rabbits and cats, was informed
7:47
that his greatgrandfather, Walter
7:49
Grasnoff [Walter Granzow], had been a prominent figure in
7:52
the party in the Thre. It's noteworthy
7:56
that he participated
7:58
particularly in his relationship with
8:00
Joseph Goebbles. He was the organizer of
8:03
the future head of the propaganda of the
8:06
Third Reich's wedding.
8:09
Now, it's also important to note that
8:10
there are some aspects of the history of
8:12
the family of East European politicians
Kaja Kallas EU head of diplomacy's grandfather was a nazi
8:15
that are less than savory. Now,
8:17
according to reports, Edward Albert [Eduard Alver — all the allegations against him here are probably false],
8:20
who's the great grandfather of the head
8:22
of EU diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, who was the
8:26
leader of the, who was the leader of the
8:28
Estonian formerly Asian Catellet, uh
8:32
this organization was involved in the
8:35
mass executions and rounding up of
8:37
Jewish people in the
8:40
Estonia. Now in certain countries such
8:42
as Canada, the descendants of uh the
8:45
Nazi party have been reserved to occupy
8:48
prominent positions within society and
8:50
even allowing them to participate in
8:52
parliamentary sessions. I mean who can
8:55
forget when Zelenski visited the Canadian
8:58
Parliament. They gave him a standing
9:00
ovation, but not just to him, but a
9:02
former Ukrainian Nazi war criminal was
9:05
given the standing ovation.
9:08
Now, the European elites of the third
9:11
postwar generation believe it's time to
9:13
move on from events of 1939 to 45. In
9:18
Germany, the memory of the Holocaust
9:20
victims is honored, and the country is
9:22
generally ready to continue to pay
9:24
tribute to the United States, who it
9:26
believes uh was the country that
9:29
liberated Germany from Nazism. Now, at
9:32
the same time, history has been
9:33
rewritten with regards to Russia, says
9:36
the German political science scientist
9:38
Alexander Ra. I mean he expressed his
9:41
concerns about the current situation
9:44
like to the challenges faced by the west
9:46
during the Soviet era. He addressed the
9:50
question of the Nazi background of
9:52
certain European politician stating that
9:54
the issue doesn't weigh heavily on the
9:56
minds of EU citizens. It's evident that
9:59
this topic will not be a significant
10:02
political factor in either their
10:04
domestic or foreign policy. So they
10:07
pretty much accepted that there in
10:09
Germany for example there's a perception
10:11
that the country has now fully atoned
10:14
for its war guilt. …

“Economic Update: How Deep Fascist Parallels Run”
30 June 2025, Richard D. Wolff
0:00
[Music]
0:20
welcome friends to another edition of economic update a weekly program devoted
0:25
to the economic dimensions of our lives and those of our children i'm your host
0:31
richard wolf i want to begin by thanking charlie fabian and all of you who have
0:37
sent in materials for charlie to work up and to help us plan our programs you can
0:44
and please do continue to send us what you have charlie.info438gmail.com
0:55
and likewise our recommendation that if you like this program and the economic
1:00
analyses we present then there's a companion volume that you will find
1:05
useful called understanding capitalism which begins with these kinds of
1:11
segments but goes into them much more systematically and much more deeply uh
1:17
than we have the time to do here uh it's available as all of our books are at our
1:23
website today is going to be a special program we're not going to have short segments
1:29
we're not going to have a guest to interview instead i've prepared a
1:35
presentation that responds to something many of you have asked me to do plus
1:41
something which the literature exploding all around us articles books newspaper
1:48
stories videos obviously show an interest it has to do with whether the
1:54
category of fascism applies to what is going on in the
2:00
united states today on the 14th of june there were demonstrations all over the
2:06
country many of them carried signs opposing fascism in the united states in
2:14
one form or another so let us do this in a reasonable
2:20
thoughtful way so i'm going to call today's program how far does the fascism analogy work
2:30
does it illuminate and to what extent what is going on in the united states
2:36
today and i'm going to use a systematic comparison
2:42
between the most important historical case of fascism that of nazi germany
2:50
with what is going on here and i think that will help us see how
2:56
far the analogy works what are the similarities but what also are the differences
3:05
so i'm going to begin with germany and the story of fascism in germany is a
3:11
story of a working class the german working class
3:16
that was lifted up in a spectacular way across the 19th century all the way up
3:26
to 1918 why that year because that is the last year of world war i
3:34
before that war began which is 1914 germany had gone from being a collection
3:42
of small little countries not all one country at all many small
3:48
principalities dupoms little kingdoms divided hostile often speaking languages
3:57
that were similar but dialectic and different uh in their dialects and so on
4:04
the 19th century saw germany go from a backwater agricultural
4:11
society to a modern industrial society to go from many scattered jurisdictions
4:19
to one unified powerful german nation
4:25
and through it all a rising standard of living and the arrival of a modern
4:32
highly skilled highly industrialized working class the 19th century was a
4:39
good century for the rise of germany its most spectacular politician otto von
4:47
bismar rose with it the great unifier
4:53
fought a whole bunch of wars to bring all of these little countries under one
4:58
umbrella and to make a powerful modern germany
5:04
in fact by the second half of the 19th century germany and the united states
5:12
were the two big upandcoming economic powerhouses
5:17
both of whom in their different ways challenging the dominant economic power
5:24
of that time the british empire world war i
5:31
changed that the german working class which had felt itself to be the most
5:37
educated the most sophisticated the most modern and in many ways they were
5:43
the german working class who had seen the 20th century as the new century in
5:49
which they would really rise to their full potential
5:54
these were german workingclass families that had done well enough in the 19th century to have real savings the germans
6:03
are were and are very frugal people they really felt that they were on the
6:10
cusp of being the great german empire they had
6:17
acquired some colonies in africa and elsewhere by that time so they were
6:24
competing globally with countries like england and france who had been doing it
6:29
for a longer time everything was smashed in world war i no
6:37
one had prepared the german working class for the possibility let alone the
6:43
reality that they would fight a war and they would lose
6:50
and in those years from when the loss became clear 1917 1918
6:59
in the years that followed the german working class suffered what can only be
7:04
called a trauma and of course i'm doing this because i'm going to show you that the united states
7:11
isn't so different but back to germany what happened they lost the war part of
7:19
the punishment of the being the loser in the war was that their colonies were
7:24
taken away from them and given to france or britain and so on
7:30
more than that they were forced to pay reparations huge punishment fines after
7:36
the war was over that they had to pay for years after the war to the countries
7:42
that had defeated them above all britain and france
7:47
britain and france had borrowed from the united states to fight the war so they
7:52
used the reparations germany gave them to pay back their loans to the united
7:58
states so the us western europe all lived off
8:03
of in large part the germans who paid reparations
8:09
in part because that bankrupted germany they suffered an inflation
8:15
the worst inflation any modern industrialized economy has faced in the
8:22
last several centuries during the year 1923
8:28
the german currency went from about six or seven to a us dollar to a billion for
8:35
a us dollar germans took their paycheck in a bag
8:42
paper currency in a bag at midday lunch break ran home gave it to someone in
8:48
their family who would run to the store to spend that money because if you didn't spend it right away by the end of
8:55
the day it wouldn't be worth anything prices were doubling every 45 minutes
9:02
americans have no idea what such a thing can be but i'm talking about something
9:09
literally a century ago this is not ancient history but what it did was wipe
9:15
out the savings of the german working class in one year gone you may have
9:21
saved for 50 years across three generations and what you had saved was now enough to buy maybe a quarter pound
9:29
of butter that that was 1923
9:35
a few years later six years later the great depression hit the collapse of
9:42
global capitalism 1929 and what had not been destroyed by the
9:48
war and by the inflation was completely destroyed by the depression which threw
9:54
millions of germans out of work it was too much for any working class to to
10:02
suffer everything destroyed your savings your job your income your community your
10:09
hopes your future everything and that created a desperation which the
10:17
political leaders of the time were unable to cope with the right-wing
10:24
couldn't the leftwing couldn't the conventional parties acted like they
10:29
couldn't imagine what to do or worse they did things which made everything worse the mass of the people began to
10:38
look for more extreme political spokespeople because the
10:44
conventional traditional ones sounded so empty-headed so lame and so totally
10:51
inadequate on the left that meant the rise of the socialist and communist parties of
10:58
germany who in the last election they had 1932 together got half the vote
11:05
and mr hitler of the extreme rightwing got roughly the other half
11:11
the german industrialists looked at this situation the collapse of their economy
11:17
the collapse of their society the rise of socialists and communists who both
11:23
declared capitalism to be their enemy and what had to go so the business
11:29
community said we have to make common cause with this character this little
11:34
short fellow with the mustache whom they didn't like whom they didn't want whom they had imprisoned earlier looked down
11:42
on as odd but they made a deal because they needed a political force
11:49
in order to survive that's what they felt like as capitalists as employers
11:55
so a deal was struck between the employers and mr hitler and that's how
12:00
he came to power in the january of 1933
12:08
here's my point the united states also in the 19th century developed and delivered to its
12:16
people an incredible rising standard of living the difference was they didn't lose world war i so it continued and
12:24
they didn't lose world war ii and indeed after world war ii the american working class enjoyed a situation that no
12:32
working class had had before high and rising standard of living high and
12:38
rising wages the american working class like the germans before them thought
12:43
that this would never end thought that this would last forever thought that they were the special united states the
12:51
exception where enterprise would succeed and where wages would rise and then came
12:58
1970 and in the 1970s all of that came to an end it wasn't a
13:05
war the way it had done it to the german working class but it was something just as bad three things happened in the
13:12
1970s and 80s that changed everything number one a technical revolution the
13:20
computer then the robot then artificial intelligence wiping out millions of jobs
13:28
and where in the best paid white male industrial workers the ones who had
13:34
strong unions number two many of those jobs that didn't disappear with
13:40
automation were relocated to china to brazil to india
13:47
millions of jobs lost to relocation because companies could make more
13:52
profits producing with lower wage workers over there so they went there they could make more profits by serving
13:59
the big markets over there which were growing faster than the american one by that time
14:05
and finally the immigrants who came in desperate because of the changes in their society looking for jobs willing
14:13
to work under poorer conditions and lower wages than americans had gotten
14:18
used to a one two three punch automation relocation immigration
14:26
and for white well-paid male unionized american workers in manufacturing it was
14:34
as devastating a trauma as that suffered by the german working class from 1918 to …
14:42

And now, America’s billionaires are responding to the record-high percentage of America’s voters who want to have the option to vote for a third political Party, by providing that option, so that there will be three instead of only two political Parties that are controlled by the billionaires. Instead of the Government being the winners of electoral contests between the political agents that have been chosen by two contending teams of billionaires, it will be between the political agents of three contending teams of billionaires. But the only REAL solution would be to get rid of the ability that billionaires have to control the Government at all. In my June 6th article “How to Create an Authentic Democracy”, I described how. It won’t be easy to do, but it would produce an authentic democracy. The billionaires would no longer control the Government. This would eliminate fascism — the system that exists — throughout the U.S. empire. It would be something entirely new: a form of democracy that the big-money interests WON’T become able to corrupt and so to control. Thus far, no one seems interested. Apparently, people just want to complain. Nobody is interested in really FIXING the existing deeply corrupt system. That article closes by inviting the reader to contact me personally about my proposal.

Investigative historian Eric Zuesse’s latest book, AMERICA’S EMPIRE OF EVIL: Hitler’s Posthumous Victory, and Why the Social Sciences Need to Change, is about how America took over the world after World War II in order to enslave it to U.S.-and-allied billionaires. Their cartels extract the world’s wealth by control of not only their ‘news’ media but the social ‘sciences’ — duping the public.
