UN, July 26 - RIA Novosti, Alan Bulkaty. The upcoming visit of Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki to Russia will bring concrete results, Sophia Tesfamariam, Eritrean Ambassador to the UN, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Eritrean Ambassador to Moscow Petros Tseggai told RIA Novosti that Afeworki plans to attend the second Russia-Africa summit. Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation for International Affairs Yuri Ushakov said that Russian leader Vladimir Putin on July 27 in St. Petersburg will also meet with the Eritrean leader.

"I'm sure that if he (the President of Eritrea - ed.) comes (to the summit), then there will be concrete results. He is a man of action. There will be a direct effect on Russian-Eritrean relations," Tesfamariam said.

"I don't think there is anyone who could question the strength of Russian-Eritrean relations. We share mutual support, political support, we have the same understanding of world politics," she said.

In her opinion, at the moment in Eritrea, there is more trust in Russian investors than in any other, in particular Western ones.

"Our relationship is long-standing. And they can only get stronger as we find more and more common ground," she added.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, during a visit to Eritrea, said that the countries would work out options for how Moscow could use the potential of the Eritrean port of Massawa, which is located on the Red Sea coast .
Meanwhile, Tesfamariam said that in Eritrea "there are certain investment opportunities that Russia is interested in." "Among them is the extraction of potassium, the mining sector," she added.
The second summit and economic and humanitarian forum "Russia - Africa" will be held on July 27-28 in St. Petersburg. RIA Novosti is the media partner of the event. The first Russia-Africa summit was held in Sochi in 2019, along with an economic forum. The forum was attended by heads of African states, representatives of Russian, African and international business and government agencies, as well as representatives of integration associations of the African continent.
