President Hassan Sheikh traveled to Eritrea and held a meeting with the country's president
Monday, October 9, 2023 (HOL) - The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, paid a working visit to Asmara in Eritrea yesterday afternoon.
When President Hassan and his delegation landed at the airport in Asmara, they were warmly welcomed by President Isaias Afwerki.
In their first meeting at the President's House, President Isaias Afwerki and President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud discussed in depth the strengthening of relations between the two countries as well as the development of the region for the interests of both countries.
The two officials also discussed how to increase the implementation of the points they discussed and the agreements reached in the previous meetings.
Some of the Somali Armed Forces are undergoing special training in Eritrea.
The reports we have received say that President Hassan Sheikh wants the troops in Eritrea to be returned to the country immediately, so that they can participate in the government's fight against the Al-Shabaab group.
A number of Somali soldiers who have already been returned to the country died during the first phase of the operation against al-Shabaab.
