Egyptian-Somali-Eritrean affirmation of respect for the unity of Somali territories

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdel Aati met today (Monday) with his Somali counterpart Ahmed Maalim Faqi and his Eritrean counterpart Osman Saleh, in a joint tripartite meeting on the sidelines of their participation in the high-level segment of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

According to the German News Agency, the official spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, stated that “the tripartite Egyptian-Somali-Eritrean meeting reflected joint coordination at the highest level, and the political will of the three countries to achieve common goals and interests, maintain stability in the region, and respect the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of Somali territories.”

Ambassador Khilaf added that the foreign ministers of Egypt, Somalia and Eritrea stressed the continuation of close coordination and cooperation on issues of common interest during the coming period, in a way that serves the interests of the three peoples, in light of the brotherly and friendly ties that bind the three peoples and governments, as well as the harmony of visions and positions.
