Eritrean national team player Nahom Araya won the Nyanza-Kigali, held at Canal Olympia on Rebero Hill, after beating his rivals, including Mugisha Moise.

In the penultimate part of the Tour du Rwanda, the athletes set off from Nyanza, where they crossed the new road connecting Nyanza and Kigali through Bugesera district.

The race started with the riders in a group, but after a kilometer, Ugandan Mugalu, riding for Java-Inovotec, took the lead and broke away from the pack.

Shortly after, six players also exited the group, namely Mugalu: Mugisha, Uwiduhaye Munyaneza (Rwanda), Nsengiyumya (Java-Inovotec), Niyonkuru (Team Amani) and Schutte (South Africa).

These athletes led the race until they entered Kigali city, but some began to fall behind as they began to climb Gikondo towards Rebero.

In the last five kilometers Mugisha Moise tried to leave his teammates and briefly led the race alone, but in the final kilometer Eritrean Araya quickly overtook him and immediately won the stage.
