Winners claimed victory in a race that was run on an entirely new course. For a large part of the race, it seemed that the victory in the LOTTO 24th Poznań Marathon would go to those competing at the marathon distance for the first time.
Finally Kenyan Matthew Kiplimo Lagat gave up the lead to the Ethiopian winner just a few kilometres before the finish line. Among the women, Aregu Workie Abeja from Ethiopia led the race, holding nearly a one-minute advantage over Izabela Paszkiewicz halfway through. The polish runner worked hard to catch up with her rival and launched her decisive attack in the final kilometres.
The LOTTO 24th Poznań Marathon was completed by 4095 runners.
“My congratulations to all participants of the LOTTO 24th Poznań Marathon! I’m delighted that the new route was so well received – it’s fresh, bold and leads through some of the most interesting parts of Poznań. I heard many positive comments from commentators, but most importantly, from the runners themselves. Thank you for the excellent organisation – great job!” – said Marcin Gołek, Deputy Mayor of Poznań.
The Title Partner of the Poznań Marathon is LOTTO. The event is also supported by: Pho3nix Foundation, Żabka, AdRunaLine Sports, Browar Fortuna, Aquanet, Dr Witt, Body Chief, and Makarony Czaniecki.
