No crashes this time in Bordeaux. Yet there was again some controversy around Jasper Philipsen's sprint victory. Images show how Philipsen swerves to the right in full sprint and almost pushes Biniam Girmay against the crush barriers. The Girly team therefore lodged a complaint with the jury. "Biniam is stuck against the fences again and has to brake," it sounds. "If he doesn't, 50 riders will be on the ground." 

Aleksandr Vinokourov also went to the VAR van displeased. If Philipsen is declassified, the victory would go to Mark Cavendish. "The regulations state that you have to sprint straight ahead," says the Kazakh. "He hinders 3 riders: Dylan Groenewegen, Jordi Meeus and Biniam Girmay. If Girmay doesn't brake, he ends up in the fences. Does someone have to fall to be downgraded?"
