Monday was Lebanon’s deadliest day for decades as Israeli war planes struck hundreds of targets across the country, including Beirut’s southern suburbs. Over 500 people were reported killed and tens of thousands fled their homes seeking safety. Asher Kaufman explains how the attacks may have turned a war of attrition into a new and far more acute situation, putting the region on the brink of a full war.
