The sixth stage of the Tour de Quinhai in China was run this Friday , and Uruguayan
Thomas Silva kept the
gold jersey he wore on Monday when he won the second stage, finishing in second place.
The winner of the 232.7-kilometer section between Gangcha and Conghe was Eritrean Henok Mulubrhan of the XDS Astana Team, with a time of 4:59:55. Second was Silva of Caja Rural , and third was Ecuadorian Harold López of Astana.
The 23-year-old from Fernandes, who until Thursday led the standings by eight seconds over Henok Mulubrhan , today has a cumulative time of 24:35:33 thanks to the six bonus seconds earned today.
His pursuers are the aforementioned Mulubrhan and Ecuadorian López, who, thanks to his third place on Friday, climbed six places and entered the podium, placing 19 seconds behind Silva. Spaniard Jon Agirre, of Euskaltel Euskadi, is fourth, 24 seconds behind.
The seventh stage will be on Saturday , reaching Haiyan after a 137-kilometre route, and the last stage will be on Sunday in Tongbaoshan (121.3 kilometres).
