Trump slaughters millions of Ukrainians for nothing.

2 August 2025, by Eric Zuesse. (All of my recent articles can be seen here.)

Trump extends Biden’s war, which extended Obama’s war, against Russia, in the battlefields of Ukraine. Ukraine’s war-dead are in service to the American Government — NOT to Russia’s, but America’s Government lies about that.

On 14 May 2024, the New York Times reported that “President Biden is edging toward what may prove to be one of his most consequential decisions in the Ukraine war: whether to reverse his ban on shooting American weapons into Russian territory. … Now, after months of complaints about the restrictions from Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, the White House has begun a formal — and apparently rapid — reassessment of whether to take the risk.” He decided to do so and to allow other NATO nations to also allow Ukraine to use their nation’s weapons against Russia, and Ukraine started then to invade Russia with American weapons. That NYT news-report noted, however: “Mr. Biden’s two mandates in the war — don’t let Russia win and don’t risk starting World War III — have always been in tension with each other.” That “tension” (which the newspaper failed to explain) has to do with the fact that the likeliest intentional way that a nuclear war between the U.S. and Russia would start would be if Russia or Ukraine demands the other’s surrender and the side that by that time will inevitably lose the war as a conventional (i.e., non-nuclear) war, decides then to launch a nuclear attack against the other side. Since any such launch on Ukraine’s side would be by U.S. forces, America’s President would, if the losing side is Ukraine, then be forced to choose between annihilating the entirety of human civilization, or else abandoning Ukraine. If the losing side is Russia, then Russia will be forced to become another U.S. colony, like Germany, Japan, South Korea, Australia, France, etc., already are. Or else, if Russia decides then not to do that, Russia’s President will launch a nuclear attack against the U.S. and its colonies. If America (via its proxy Ukraine) wins its war against Russia by conventional means, America will be winning its by-far-biggest of all colonies; but, if Russia wins it by conventional means, then America won’t. If the U.S. stands down, then its period as the only superpower will have consequently ended, and there will then be a multipolar world, in which the U.S. Government’s (since 25 July 1945) dream of becoming the bully over the entire planet, will have ended. But if Russia stands down, then Russia will be accepting that it is henceforth only another vassal-nation or “colony” of the U.S. Government.

Putin always did a very poor job of explaining why he invaded Ukraine on 24 February 2022, but on that very day he also delivered an address to the nation, and it opened by his saying that, “in my address on February 21, 2022, I spoke about our biggest concerns and worries, and about the fundamental threats which irresponsible Western politicians created for Russia consistently, rudely and unceremoniously from year to year. I am referring to the eastward expansion of NATO, which is moving its military infrastructure ever closer to the Russian border.” Perhaps because he didn’t want to scare his people by identifying just how grave the situation actually had, by then, become, he never said straight-out the truth of the matter: that Ukraine has, by far, the nearest of all borders to The Kremlin, only around 300 miles away from blitz-nuking Russia’s central command; and, so, if Ukraine will be in NATO, then the U.S. will place a missile there a mere five minutes of flying-time away from annihilating Russia’s central command, and this would be almost like a checkmate in the game of chess. In that speech, he did, however, say that he had done everything he could to avoid the need to invade Ukraine: “In December 2021, we made yet another attempt to reach agreement with the United States and its allies on the principles of European security and NATO’s non-expansion. Our efforts were in vain. The United States has not changed its position. It does not believe it necessary to agree with Russia on a matter that is critical for us. The United States is pursuing its own objectives, while neglecting our interests.”  That statement — like everything else in that speech — was entirely truthful, as I documented here. On 7 January 2022, both the U.S. and NATO itself said no, contemptuously, to Russia’s urgent 17 December 2021 request for the U.S. and NATO to respect Russia’s national-security necessities. Then, on 24 February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine in order to achieve via military means (since all diplomatic possibilities were then exhausted), what by that time was very clearly the U.S. side’s unchangeable goal of conquering Russia.

The second-closest U.S. colony to The Kremlin is the new NATO country Finland, and so, shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine on 24 February 2022, Finland joined NATO and already on 27 October 2022 I headlined “NATO wants to place nuclear missiles on Finland’s Russian border — Finland says yes.” The U.S. Government had demanded that Finland say yes to this, in order for Finland to be allowed into NATO. It was, by then, indisputable that this is what the U.S. Government is aiming for in Ukraine (blitz-attacking The Kremlin to decapitate it) — Finland isn’t close enough to Moscow to satisfy the U.S. Government. That is why the U.S. has been demanding that Ukraine get into NATO.

On July 31st, was posted to youtube “U.S. Will NOT Accept Ukraine Defeat /John Mearsheimer”, explaining why Dr. Mearsheimer, who believes that Russia’s victory against Ukraine is, by now, virtually inevitable, expects America’s President to not accept that, which opinion by him leaves, by a simple logical process of elimination, his implicit prediction (though, peculiarly, not stated by him) that America will launch against Russia a nuclear invasion, in order to avoid America’s loss of its current hegemony over the world.

If, however, Mearsheimer is wrong, and Trump will accept a Russian victory in Ukraine, then that will be the end of America’s virtual control over the world, which has been in place ever since the Soviet Union ended in 1991. So, the question for the American President will be: Which is worse? The end of America’s hegemony? Or the end of the world?

Already, the signs from Trump are that he would prefer the end of the world. Here is his Truth Social posting on 25 May 2025:

I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY! He is needlessly killing a lot of people, and I’m not just talking about soldiers. Missiles and drones are being shot into Cities in Ukraine, for no reason whatsoever. I’ve always said that he wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s proving to be right, but if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia! Likewise, President Zelenskyy is doing his Country no favors by talking the way he does. Everything out of his mouth causes problems, I don’t like it, and it better stop. This is a War that would never have started if I were President. This is Zelenskyy’s, Putin’s, and Biden’s War, not “Trump’s,” I am only helping to put out the big and ugly fires, that have been started through Gross Incompetence and Hatred.

And, since then, hundreds of thousands more of Ukrainians and of Russians have been — to no point other than to maintain America’s hegemony — killed in this war that  America (under Obama) had started, and all of this in order for America to win the biggest of all possible colonies? That’s why the world should end? All for Trump or whomever rules America? The world should end, for that purpose? To serve those people? They think the world would be better for them after such a ‘win’ (by nuclear means)? They are that type of pure psychopaths? And they are the type of people who should be leading the world even now — be leading us, to their purposes? How sick is this?

Dr. Mearsheimer, however, peculiarly, doesn’t acknowledge that if Russia wins the war, Trump wouldn’t be able to continue waging it, such as by America and its colonies funding a guerilla force inside Ukraine. Mearsheimer doesn’t recognize that if Russia will take control over Ukraine, it will likely do in Ukraine the same thing that it did — very successfully — in Chechnya. If Russia wins in Ukraine, then it will need to make sure that the whole world will recognize that fact, because otherwise, the war would still be going on — and Russia won’t win this war in any other way than with finality (like they did in Chechnya). Russians will have the patience to achieve that finality. All of its history suggests that Russia will NOT become another nation’s colony. Mearsheimer, apparently, doesn’t understand this. Neither (of course) does Trump.

Investigative historian Eric Zuesse’s latest book, AMERICA’S EMPIRE OF EVIL: Hitler’s Posthumous Victory, and Why the Social Sciences Need to Change, is about how America took over the world after World War II in order to enslave it to U.S.-and-allied billionaires. Their cartels extract the world’s wealth by control of not only their ‘news’ media but the social ‘sciences’ — duping the public.
